February 2012
Dear Parents:
Each year
during the last week of January, the entire
United States Catholic school system
celebrates its many achievements. The theme
for this year's celebration is "Catholic
Schools: Faith, Academics, Service”
This theme for Catholic Schools Week
reflects the mission of Catholic Schools -
building a strong foundation for a lifetime
of confidence, faith, and service celebrates
the fact that Catholic schools are an added
value for the nation. Because of their
traditionally high academic standards and
high graduation rates, all supported by
strong moral values, Catholic schools and
their graduates make a definite, positive
contribution to American society. This year,
you can join the over 8,000 Catholic Schools
across the nation in sharing our message by
joining us in our weeklong celebration from
January 29 - February 3. A calendar of the
week’s events is available on our school
website www.stjohns-peabody.com. Please come
celebrate with us!
On Sunday,
January 29 at the 10 am Mass the St. John’s
community will honor and thank several
parents with the Outstanding Volunteer of
the Year Award for their tireless service to
our school. Jayne Botticelli, Andre
Deschenes, Luciano Dinis, Mary Intonti,
Nancy O’Donnell, Tara Silva and Eileen
Zoldak, parents of graduating eighth grade
students, will sadly complete their time at
St John’s School. We are extremely grateful
to each of them for their years of service
and to all parents who volunteer at our
school.
Please
remember to return your enrollment
information as soon as possible. We need to
place our present students prior to
accepting new children. We have several
applications and would like to inform them
of their placement as soon as possible.
As
I’m sure you have noted, St. John’s has made
every effort to remain affordable. We thank
all families for their participation in
fundraising, development and volunteer
activities. Your commitment to our school
has benefited all and allowed us to maintain
a lower tuition rate than any other school
in the area. Please note the new enrollment
incentive program that is in the Wednesday
Weeklies and will be going home with your
child. I am extremely grateful for your
continued support of the mission of Catholic
education and St. John the Baptist School.
Mary Ellen Zarro and the Auction Committee
are very busy gathering, articles and events
for the annual auction on March 24 at 6 pm
in our gym. Once again this event will
include food samples from a variety of
restaurants, as well as, wine tasting. There
are several excellent items up for bid.
Please plan to join us for a fun-filled
evening. Please call the Development Office
at extension 340 with any questions.
I thank you
all for your continued support of the
mission of Catholic education and St. John’s
School.
With warm
regards,
Maureen J. Kelleher
